Six Awardees Selected for COVID-19 Prevention and Contribution to Traffic Safety and Culture Development at Traffic Sites
Award Ceremony to Be Held on October 27
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 27th that it will accept nominations for candidates for the '2021 Seoul Metropolitan City Traffic Culture Award' from the 28th of this month until the 30th of next month, aiming to establish a safe urban traffic culture and realize a walkable Seoul.
Started in 1999 and now in its 23rd year, the Seoul Metropolitan City Traffic Culture Award is given annually to citizens or organizations who have contributed to the establishment of traffic safety and the development of traffic culture in Seoul. Last year, the grand prize was awarded to the Guro-gu Green Mothers' Association, which has built a record through continuous traffic accident prevention campaigns and children's traffic safety guidance.
The number of awardees includes 1 grand prize winner, 2 excellence award winners, and 3 merit award winners, totaling 6 individuals or teams regardless of whether they are individuals or organizations.
Candidates for the award are individuals or organizations who have contributed to traffic safety and the development of traffic culture, including ▲contributions to traffic safety and traffic culture development through quarantine and prevention activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19 ▲traffic campaigns, traffic-related education and research activities ▲dedication to community development through traffic volunteering ▲long-term diligent work in the traffic field, selecting individuals or organizations who have demonstrated expertise and dedication in the traffic sector.
In particular, citizens and organizations who have contributed to traffic safety and traffic culture development through quarantine and prevention activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are included as recommended candidates, adding significance to the Traffic Culture Award held amid the difficult circumstances of COVID-19.
Eligibility requirements for awardees are individuals or organizations who have continuously resided or operated a business in Seoul for more than 3 years as of the announcement date.
Recommenders include administrative agencies and registered private organizations, while unregistered organizations and individuals can recommend candidates by attaching a recommendation letter signed by more than 10 people. After investigating and verifying the merits of the submitted candidates, the final awardees will be selected through a review by a merit evaluation committee composed of related experts. Awardees will receive plaques at the award ceremony scheduled for October 27.
