[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The death toll from the apartment collapse accident in Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA, has risen to four, the Washington Post (WP) reported on the 25th (local time).

WP cited city authorities saying that the whereabouts of dozens of missing persons have still not been confirmed.

The officially announced number of missing persons until the previous day was 99.

Authorities are making every effort to carry out rescue operations by deploying all available personnel at dawn the previous day, but the speed is limited due to the risk of further collapse.

U.S. President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency in Florida in a statement on the day and urged that all support be provided to overcome the disaster.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also declared an emergency in the area and requested federal-level support.

Local media, while not giving up hope for additional survivors, are concerned about the possibility of large-scale casualties due to the accident occurring late at night and entering the second day since the incident.
