[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Dong-joo] On the 25th, a demonstration of the remote video conference plenary session was held at the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Committee meeting room. Last year, as COVID-19 struck, an unprecedented closure of the National Assembly occurred, raising concerns that the passage of bills might be disrupted, leading to the introduction of a remote video conference system. With video plenary sessions, not only can remote video conferences be held when it is difficult to hold a normal plenary session due to the spread of a first-class infectious disease like COVID-19 or natural disasters, but only agreed agenda items can proceed to voting. However, the validity period of the remote video conference provision is until December 31 of this year.
