[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 25th that it conducted a ‘Leadership Competency Enhancement Integrity Training’ for over 60 senior officials at grade 5 and above in the main conference room of the city hall on the 24th.
This training was organized to improve issues identified through an internal integrity vulnerability survey based on last year’s Integrity Evaluation results by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
They invited Joo Yang-soon, an integrity expert instructor appointed by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s Integrity Training Institute, focusing on fairness in work instructions by senior officials, strengthening leadership to foster a horizontal communication culture, and cultivating communication skills.
Instructor Joo explained related laws such as the Public Officials’ Code of Conduct, the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, and the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, along with examples of improper work instructions and abuse of power by type, emphasizing the necessity of exemplary attitudes and self-management by organizational managers.
The city is currently promoting four key tasks to improve integrity: ‘Creating an honest public service culture,’ ‘Strengthening autonomous internal control,’ ‘Blocking structural and repetitive unfair practices,’ and ‘Spreading integrity culture and enhancing communication,’ along with 59 detailed policies by department.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “I hope senior officials will take the lead in spreading an integrity culture in the public service and creating a horizontal communication culture through communication and empathy dialogue methods,” adding, “We will do our best to improve integrity, establish transparent administration trusted by citizens, create a corruption-free public service, and build a clean and honest Naju.”
