Miryang-si Conducts Special Surveillance and Crackdown on Environmental Pollution Activities During Summer

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 25th that it will conduct intensive inspections from June to August around major rivers in the area, wastewater and sewage/livestock manure discharge facilities, and waste disposal businesses.

The city will form a self-inspection team to conduct inspections in three stages?pre-guidance, focused crackdown, and post-management?targeting environmental pollution acts such as illegal dumping of pollutants stored or abandoned at business sites during the rainy season and summer heavy rains.

The first stage involves pre-guidance and publicity in June, the second stage is focused inspections from July to early August, and the third stage is environmental technology support for wastewater prevention facilities in August.

Businesses found violating regulations during inspections will face administrative actions such as facility improvement orders and fines, and businesses with intentional or habitual violations will be subject to strong measures including prosecution.

A Miryang City official stated, “During the special inspection period, thorough inspections and monitoring are limited by restricted administrative resources, so we ask citizens to actively participate in reporting environmental pollution.”
