[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it will provide disaster countermeasure management funds to support farmers affected by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to stabilize management in the agricultural sector.
The support targets include farmers (including family members) who were quarantined due to confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infection, or farms that could not carry out normal production and harvesting due to disruptions in securing auxiliary labor for farming.
In addition, farms recognized as unable to conduct normal management activities due to the impact of COVID-19 will also be supported.
The support limit is up to 50 million KRW per farm based on the required management expenses. The support conditions are temporarily fixed interest rates (1.5%, then 1.8%) or variable interest rates (0.66%, 6-month variable) for one year until December 31 of this year, and fruit farms can extend the period by 3 years, while other farms can extend by 1 year.
The application deadline is until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes. Applicants can visit the local eup/myeon office, fill out the application form, and submit it to the responsible agricultural cooperative.
Lee Su-won, head of the Eco-friendly Agriculture Division, said, “As farmers are experiencing many difficulties such as labor shortages and securing sales channels due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we hope this support will be of some help.”
