<KOR-UAE Consular Joint Committee Meeting Held... Discussion on Entry Convenience Improvement Measures>


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 24th that the 1st Korea-UAE Consular Joint Committee was held on the 23rd in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).


The committee was held under the chairmanship of Lee Heon, Director of the Overseas Koreans Consular Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Faisal Lutfi, Deputy Consul General of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides agreed to establish and regularize the Korea-UAE Consular Joint Committee.


Both parties reviewed the current status of cooperation in all consular areas, including the activation of human exchange between the two countries by facilitating entry, exit, and stay during the COVID-19 situation, and the protection of their nationals in the respective countries. They agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in consular affairs in the future.


In particular, they evaluated the performance of the rapid entry system between the two countries and agreed to strive for a mutual recognition system of COVID-19 vaccination certificates to improve the convenience of entry for nationals of both countries.
