Overcoming the COVID-19 Crisis with Full Government Funding
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) announced on the 24th that it plans to fully provide a total of 936 million KRW in temporary livelihood support funds, the purpose of the government's 4th disaster relief fund, in two phases on the 25th and 28th.
The temporary livelihood support project is aimed at providing one-time temporary support to low-income crisis households with less than 75% of the median income and assets under 300 million KRW, who have experienced crises due to income reduction but do not qualify for existing welfare systems or COVID-19 damage support programs.
As of the 6th, a total of 3,355 households applied for the temporary livelihood support, and the county confirmed 2,692 households as final recipients after verifying income, assets, and income reduction.
This result far exceeded the initially expected 1,771 households, leading to an additional national subsidy of 249 million KRW on top of the original budget of 885 million KRW, securing a total of 1.134 billion KRW.
On the 25th, 1,324 low-income households will receive 500,000 KRW per household (totaling 622 million KRW) as the first payment, and on the 28th, the remaining 1,368 households eligible for voucher payments, such as small-scale farms, will receive 200,000 KRW per household (totaling 273.6 million KRW).
Governor Jeong Jong-sun said, “In the prolonged COVID-19 situation, we will actively respond to ensure that no welfare blind spots occur while our residents suffer economically and psychologically. We will do our best so that COVID-19 ends as soon as possible and all residents can achieve economic stability and live healthily.”
