[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) has created a rest area for mobile workers whose workload has rapidly increased due to the growth of the untact industry during the COVID-19 period, and held an opening ceremony on the 23rd.

Dobong-gu announced that the shelter was established to improve the poor working conditions of mobile workers, who have recently become a social issue, including ▲designated drivers ▲quick service couriers ▲shuttle bus drivers ▲delivery workers ▲parcel workers.

The mobile workers' rest area, located on the 2nd floor of ‘Platform Changdong61,’ covers an area of 56㎡ and is equipped with foot massagers, blood pressure monitors, computers, fax multifunction devices, TVs, coffee machines, air purifiers, smartphone chargers, refrigerators, microwaves, and motorcycle maintenance tools.

The shelter operates from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and a dedicated parking lot for motorcycles has also been provided.

At the opening ceremony, Dobong-gu Mayor Dongjin Lee, Dobong-gu Council Chairman Jinsik Park, council members, and mobile workers attended to tour the facility together and checked whether the users had sufficient comfort to rest during the hot summer.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “The reason we can maintain a safe and comfortable life even during COVID-19 is thanks to the sacrifice and service of mobile workers,” adding, “We will do our best to maintain the shelter so that visitors can relieve their fatigue even for a short time and continue to work safely.”
