[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 23rd that it has additionally installed smart shade shelters at 16 heatwave-vulnerable locations within the county to prepare for the summer heat.
The smart shade shelters are equipped with solar-powered power supply devices and automatically open and close according to temperature, wind, and time. They enable rapid response in emergencies such as natural disasters, reducing manpower waste, and at night, LED lights turn on, providing excellent crime prevention effects.
The county has been installing and operating shade shelters since 2018, and this year selected 16 locations with high foot traffic, including 2 in Namak New Town and 14 in Oryong New Town, installing smart shade shelters that have received great responses from residents.
In particular, the smart shade shelter installed near Haengbok Elementary School in Oryong New Town uses yellow fabric, considering the city's aesthetics while allowing drivers to easily recognize it as a children's protection zone.
Governor Kim San said, “With the installation of these smart shade shelters, we expect to effectively respond to disaster situations and prevent accidents caused by heat-related illnesses and extreme heat.”
Meanwhile, Muan County has been installing shade shelters since 2018 and currently operates 7 fixed shade shelters and 36 smart shade shelters.
