[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province held a preemptive public-private joint meeting to discuss measures to attract foreign tourists ahead of the implementation of the 'Travel Bubble' (Travel Bubble - Safe Travel Zone), which allows tourism between countries with excellent COVID-19 quarantine measures.
On the 23rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it held a 'Public-Private Joint Meeting in Preparation for the Travel Bubble' at the Suwon Convention Center, hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, with travel agencies, accommodation providers, and tourism site officials.
Earlier, the government announced the 'Travel Bubble Promotion Plan' on the 9th. The government is promoting measures to allow travel, including quarantine exemptions, with some overseas countries where the COVID-19 situation has stabilized.
Accordingly, the province decided to establish an active response system, including building a public-private cooperation system, so that foreign tourists visiting Korea through the Travel Bubble can visit Gyeonggi Province.
In addition, they discussed plans to promote overseas publicity through a 'Safe Gyeonggi Tourism' campaign video featuring tourism industry workers.
The strategy is to increase promotional effects by posting the video on social networking services (SNS) or tourism platforms.
Choi Yong-hoon, Director of the Tourism Division of the province, promised, "Ahead of the Travel Bubble promotion, Gyeonggi Province will do its best to create a Gyeonggi Province where returning foreign tourists can visit with peace of mind by preparing preemptive response measures through public-private cooperation."
Meanwhile, the meeting was attended by major inbound travel agencies such as Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, Gyeonggi Tourism Association, Mode Tour International, Lotte JTB, Hana Tour ITC, popular tourist sites frequently visited by foreign tourists such as Gapyeong Petite France, Yongin Korean Folk Village, Goyang One Mount, Gimpo Hyundai Cruise, and major accommodation providers such as ibis Ambassador Suwon and Hwaseong Purmir.
