Jeongeup-si to Distribute 'Jeonbuk-do Emergency Disaster Relief Fund' Starting from the 5th of Next Month

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeollabuk-do (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) announced on the 23rd that it will provide the ‘Jeollabuk-do Emergency Disaster Relief Fund’ from July 5 to August 6 to stabilize citizens' lives and revitalize the local economy.

The ‘Jeollabuk-do Emergency Disaster Relief Fund,’ which provides 100,000 KRW per person to all residents of the province, will be given as a Jeonbuk Bank anonymous prepaid card to those registered as residents in the city as of the 21st, marriage immigrants under the ‘Basic Act on the Treatment of Foreigners Residing in Korea,’ and permanent residents under the ‘Immigration Control Act.’

The prepaid card must be used only at affiliated stores within the region until September 30 to support local neighborhood businesses.

Usage is restricted at large supermarkets, entertainment establishments, online shopping malls, and other sectors where national disaster relief funds are also restricted.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the city has provided Jeongeup City Disaster Basic Income twice and plans to quickly support this disaster relief fund based on the accumulated know-how.

To ensure convenience for citizens and simplify administrative procedures, a five-day rotation system based on the last digit of the birth year will be applied, and officials and community leaders will visit villages to distribute the funds as much as possible.

Additionally, to prevent COVID-19, strict quarantine measures such as mandatory mask-wearing, thorough hand sanitization, and maintaining a distance of over 1 meter at reception centers will be enforced to provide support under tight quarantine conditions.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “We will ensure that citizens do not experience any inconvenience in receiving the emergency disaster relief fund,” and added, “I hope that citizens who have faced difficulties due to COVID-19 can find some comfort and stability in their lives through this emergency disaster relief fund.”
