[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hyundai Electric, a power equipment and energy solutions affiliate of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, held a surprise event to communicate with its employees.
On the 23rd, Cho Seok, CEO (President) of Hyundai Electric, held the 'Seokdabang' event at the Bundang office, handing out snacks such as donuts and coffee to employees on their way to work. Seokdabang is a communication event named after CEO Cho Seok, designed to narrow the gap between management and employees and foster a youthful organizational culture.
From 7 a.m. that day, CEO Cho and three division heads wore aprons with a caricature of CEO Cho in front of Seokdabang at the office entrance, offering snacks and morning greetings while having light conversations with employees.

In particular, this event focused on encouraging employees who have been working remotely for a long time due to COVID-19. The event was conducted with strict adherence to quarantine rules, including wearing masks and vinyl gloves. Considering the number of employees working that day, 400 donuts and coffee were provided in the company’s break area, allowing employees to freely enjoy them during work hours.
Park Jeong-ho, Senior Manager of the Rotating Machinery Sales Department at Hyundai Electric, said, "I was able to start the day feeling good with a surprise gift on my way to work," adding, "There have been few opportunities for communication within the workplace due to COVID-19, so I hope events like this will be held frequently in the future."
Meanwhile, since February, Hyundai Electric has been accelerating corporate culture innovation by strengthening communication with the MZ generation, operating a reverse mentoring program where juniors convey young generation culture to seniors, and introducing an observation system that allows employees to directly attend executive meetings chaired by the CEO.
