Jin Air Leads Environmental Cleanup Volunteer Effort at Jeju Suwolbong

A total of 22 people, including Jin Air cabin crew members and the Catholic Children and Youth Foundation, collected trash and waste around Suwolbong in Jeju Island on the 22nd.

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jin Air announced on the 23rd that it conducted an environmental cleanup volunteer activity to protect the natural environment around Suwolbong in Jeju Island.

This volunteer activity was carried out as part of the social contribution agreement between Jin Air and the Catholic Kwandong University International St. Mary's Hospital. Since 2018, Jin Air and Catholic Kwandong University International St. Mary's Hospital have been continuously engaged in various social contribution activities every year, including transporting medical supplies for medical volunteer work in Vietnam, talent donation activities for children and hospice wards, and medical volunteer work in Clark, Philippines.

A total of 22 people, including Jin Air flight attendants and members of the Catholic Children and Youth Foundation, collected trash and waste around Suwolbong in Jeju Island. The activity was conducted in strict compliance with government quarantine guidelines such as wearing masks and social distancing.

Jin Air stated, "We are glad to resume volunteer activities that had been temporarily paused due to the spread of COVID-19 last year," adding, "Although there are difficulties due to COVID-19, we will continue to carry out volunteer activities that more employees can participate in."

Jeju Suwolbong is one of the representative attractions of Jeju Island's UNESCO Global Geopark. It is a small oreum (volcanic cone) located in Gosan-ri, Hangyeong-myeon, in the southwest of Jeju Island. Every year, many tourists visit Suwolbong to see its sunset and volcanic ash strata.
