[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] NH Nonghyup Life Insurance announced on the 22nd that it signed a business agreement with the nonprofit organization Life Forest at the Nonghyup Life Insurance headquarters in Seodaemun, Seoul, to create urban forests.

The donation provided by Nonghyup Life Insurance will be used to create a forest within the traffic island at Hong Eun Intersection in Seoul. The forest creation within the traffic island is a project aimed at improving the urban environment, which is deteriorating due to vehicle fine dust and the urban heat island phenomenon, by utilizing small idle spaces in the city as green areas.

The business agreement for creating the traffic island forest was carried out as part of the recent focus on practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. The purpose is to create a sustainable society by providing green spaces in living areas to citizens and customers.

Kim In-tae, CEO of Nonghyup Life Insurance, said, "I am pleased to be able to provide forests and resting spaces, which are gradually disappearing in the city, by utilizing neglected idle spaces," and added, "We will continue to discover eco-friendly and community development projects such as urban environment improvement."
