Guide for Elective Subjects Preparation in Response to the High School Credit System Implementation
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Education Information Research Institute under the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will produce and distribute a guidebook for elective subjects for students, teachers, and parents in preparation for the high school credit system to be implemented from the 2025 academic year.
The "2021 Seoul-type High School Credit System Foundation Guidebook for Elective Subjects Based on the 2015 Revised Curriculum" contains relevant information to help students and parents, who have many concerns about subject selection, understand the meaning of a student-tailored elective curriculum and choose subjects that suit them.
The guidebook introduces the characteristics and content structure of high school subjects, related departments and career information, and general education subjects developed by metropolitan and provincial offices of education. In the department introduction section by field, it provides information on the content learned in each department, related elective subjects, and career paths after graduation. It also offers examples of unique elective subjects by school that support voluntary career exploration and learning participation.
The guidebook file can be downloaded from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Research and Information Institute website. By using the accompanying elective subject guide Excel program, users can easily find subjects and departments of interest.
