[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum requested the National Assembly on the 22nd to reach a conclusion regarding constitutional amendments, including the restructuring of the power system.

In response to a question from Choi In-ho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who advocated for a constitutional amendment involving a four-year presidential term with one re-election and simultaneous general and presidential elections during the National Assembly's government questioning session, Prime Minister Kim said, "The National Assembly should make a conclusion. That seems to be the most natural course."

He added, "Since the president submitted a proposal during the previous (20th) National Assembly, it is difficult for the executive branch to comment," explaining his position.

Regarding the constitutional amendment bill proposed by the government, Prime Minister Kim explained, "Although the government’s constitutional amendment bill was automatically discarded with the expiration of the 20th National Assembly, the government had such (constitutional amendment) intentions."

He continued, "It seems natural that the National Assembly, as the representative body of the people, should make conclusions on specific methods of restructuring the power system, distributing authority, and diversifying the composition of the legislature."
