Seven Suspected 'Tteotdabang' Including Solicitors Handed Over to Police

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do has caught seven suspected unregistered brokers, known as 'tteotdabang,' engaging in unauthorized brokerage activities at the sales site of lifestyle accommodation facilities in the Ungcheon area and handed them over to the police on site.

According to Yeosu City on the 22nd, starting from the 17th, they detected suspicious solicitation activities targeting visitors who had just signed sales contracts, and in cooperation with the police, cracked down on suspected tteotdabang around the model house and handed them over to the police on site.

On the 18th and 19th, they also caught instances of preparing documents to secure rights related to sales contracts near restaurants around the model house and on side streets in residential areas.

A city official stated, "Amid nationwide turmoil such as investigations into real estate speculation related to LH recently, these illegal activities are rampant," adding, "We plan to continue focused monitoring to prevent unqualified brokerage activities and outside tteotdabang from gaining a foothold in Yeosu."

Meanwhile, from the 7th to the 20th, Yeosu City conducted a large-scale special crackdown on illegal brokerage activities related to the sales of Ungcheon lifestyle accommodation facilities in joint cooperation with Yeosu Police Station, the Tax Office, and the Yeosu branch of the Real Estate Brokerage Association.

Earlier in March, Yeosu Police Station, Yeosu Tax Office, and the Real Estate Brokerage Association signed a business agreement to eradicate illegal real estate speculation and stabilize the market, aiming to promptly curb the overheating of the real estate market and establish a housing market order centered on actual demand through a joint support system.
