Seoul City Hosts Eco-Friendly Craft Market with 200 Handmade Items for 'Environment Month'...

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] To celebrate June as "Environment Month," the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 23rd that it will operate a craft market where visitors can encounter various eco-friendly crafts.

The Seoul Women’s Craft Center will open an unmanned craft market called "Art Market Cheonsudapjang" on June 26-27 at the Craft Yard on the first floor of The Artium at the Seoul Women’s Craft Center. "Art Market Cheonsudapjang" has been held monthly since 2017, inspired by "Cheonsudap," a farming method that relies solely on rainwater, symbolizing the idea of enriching life only with the rain of creativity and creation. Visitors can purchase handcrafted crafts and food items made by creators themselves and enjoy hands-on craft experiences through various programs.

Especially for this Cheonsudapjang, prepared to mark Environment Month in June, a variety of eco-friendly products, experience programs, and special events are available. Over 50 teams will offer more than 200 handcrafted items and food products for purchase.

At "Sonkil Workshop," which exhibits and sells lifestyle creative works, visitors will find many crafts made from reusable materials and items that minimize environmental pollution, attracting those who want to practice eco-friendliness. At the "Cheonsudapjang Table," various food items can be purchased.

The hands-on program "Hand Skills School," which had been suspended due to COVID-19, will offer two classes: making cup coasters using sock yarn and making pens & lids using eco-friendly paper. The Hand Skills School will be conducted by prior reservation, with four sessions each day from 2 PM to 6 PM on June 26 and 27.

Additionally, various special events will be held to celebrate Environment Month. "Buy a cup and get coffee too." Customers who purchase products at Cheonsudapjang will receive coffee exchange coupons. Visitors who bring their own bags to carry purchased items will also receive discount coupons. By showcasing their uniquely creative bags on social networking services (SNS), participants can enter a drawing to win special prizes from The Artium.

This Cheonsudapjang will be operated unmanned so that visitors can safely enjoy the event without concerns about COVID-19 prevention measures. Visitors are free to come anytime between 1 PM and 6 PM, the market’s opening hours.
