The Jeonnam Provincial Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 22nd that at the 2nd regular meeting held on the 21st, it reviewed and approved the committee operation regulations, the working council operation regulations, and the regulations concerning the command and supervision of the Jeonnam Police Agency Chief, which will serve as the basis for the future operation of the autonomous police system.

At the regular meeting, officials in charge of autonomous police affairs from departments such as the Jeonnam Police Agency Autonomous Police Division Chief, the Community Safety Division Chief, the Women and Youth Division Chief, and the Traffic Division Chief attended and shared key tasks in their respective areas.

The committee members unanimously agreed that the autonomous police system should be operated to provide security services that improve the lives of residents by discovering policies that residents can directly feel.

They also decided to hold a temporary meeting in June to review and approve the scope of appointment authority for police officers in charge of autonomous police affairs and the necessary systems for the full implementation of the autonomous police system in July.

Jo Man-hyung, Chairman of the Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee, said, “We will prepare without any setbacks in line with the full implementation of the autonomous police system,” adding, “We will discover security policies tailored to regional characteristics by reflecting residents’ demands and provide customized security services.”

Going forward, the committee plans to systematically prepare to enhance operational soundness as a deliberative and decision-making body by holding regular meetings once a month and temporary meetings as needed.

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Provincial Autonomous Police Committee visited the Jeonnam Senior Citizens’ Center on the 18th to gather opinions related to elderly protection measures, share the status of the autonomous police system launch, and discuss community issues together.

At this meeting, Chairman Jo expressed his commitment to creating a safe Jeonnam where seniors feel secure by reducing traffic accidents involving the elderly, establishing a system for preventing and reporting elder abuse, and announced the vision of a “Safe Future, Happy Jeonnam” in cooperation with residents, pledging to do his best to create a Jeonnam-type autonomous police system centered on residents.
