[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] The Community Security Council of Nohwa-eup, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 22nd that they visited a couple who gave birth to their fifth child to encourage them and delivered birth supplies such as diapers.
The subjects of attention are the couple Choi Hong-min (37) and Jeong Soon-bok (36), who live in Bukgo-ri, Nohwa-eup.
Choi Hong-min said, "There are many difficulties due to consecutive childbirths and childcare, but the joy and happiness I feel watching the children grow up healthily are greater," adding, "The low birthrate problem is serious socially, so I feel proud to have contributed even a little to increasing the population."
Wando-gun is raising childbirth incentives and expanding childbirth promotion policies to overcome the low birthrate.
Wando-gun provides childbirth incentives of ▲1 million won for the first child ▲5 million won for the second child ▲13 million won for the third child ▲15 million won for the fourth child ▲20 million won for the fifth child.
In addition, various benefits are provided throughout the entire process from pregnancy to childbirth, including support for health checkup fees for newlyweds (prospective couples), folic acid, iron, and nutritional supplements for pregnant women, operation of prenatal classes, support of transportation cards worth 200,000 won for pregnant women, support for postpartum and newborn health managers, 200,000 won preparation funds before childbirth, newborn birth celebration supplies, free naming services for newborns, and 500,000 won congratulatory money for the first birthday of the third child or more.
Lee Hong-yong, head of Nohwa-eup, said, "The birth of the fifth baby is a joyous event for the local community," and added, "We will take the lead in reducing the burden of childbirth and childcare for multi-child families and ensuring that children grow up healthily."
