[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said about former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, "He is on the verge of resignation. It will be difficult to continue."
On the 22nd, Jeong appeared on TBS Radio's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' and regarding the so-called X-file, he said, "I believe former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol cannot help but suffer tremendous wounds from a stone thrown carelessly," adding, "From Yoon Seok-yeol's standpoint, the situation is very unfavorable. He was deeply hurt by the '10 won coin' remark, and then he faced great embarrassment with the 'horizon' issue."
It is known that Yoon expressed the position that he "never caused even a 10 won loss" regarding the allegations involving his mother-in-law, and he also pointed out the incorrect sentence written in the guestbook during his recent visit to the Kim Dae-jung Library, which read, ‘Kim Dae-jung President, who opened a new horizon for Korea based on informatization and human rights values.’
Jeong said, "He opened a new horizon of language. And the spokesperson resigned," adding, "Then immediately the Yoon Seok-yeol X-file surfaced, and it appears to have substance."
He continued, "He hasn't even declared his candidacy yet, but the moment he does, he will be asked continuously to explain the suspicions without any policy announcements. Then he won't be able to say what he plans to do going forward and will be desperately covering and defending himself while being hammered, which the public will see."
Joining him, Jo Hae-jin, a member of the People Power Party, said about the so-called X-file, "There is nothing, it's a farce, self-generated, media play, and noise marketing," adding, "In any case, it won't be a plus for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol. There will be some minus effects."
Regarding the controversy over the Democratic Party's primary schedule, Jeong said, "There is a proposal to adopt a four-year presidential term with one re-election. But if the constitution is not amended, the election will be held as it currently stands," adding, "Similarly, if the party's constitution and regulations, which can be called the party's constitution, are not amended, it will proceed as it currently is."
He continued, "In the case of former leader Lee Nak-yeon, he resigned according to the party constitution and regulation schedule. It's like taking the first exam session," adding, "But the second session is proposed to be held in a month or two months later, and if that rule is not changed, it just has to proceed. It's physically impossible otherwise."
He added, "There will be a party meeting starting at 10:30 today, and there will be heated debates. But ultimately, if it can't be changed, it will just proceed as is. That is clear."
