[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Samsung Electronics will introduce the Galaxy device ecosystem and present the future vision of smartwatches at the world's largest mobile exhibition, 'Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021,' held in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of this month.
Samsung Electronics announced through its global newsroom on the 21st that it will hold the 'Samsung Galaxy MWC Virtual Event' online on the opening day of MWC, the 28th of this month (local time). The event will be broadcast live from 3:15 AM on the 29th Korean time on the Samsung Newsroom and Samsung YouTube channel. According to Central European Time (CET), it will start at 7:15 PM on the 28th.
At this event, Samsung Electronics will introduce the continuously expanding Galaxy device ecosystem. It will also reveal the future vision of smartwatches, which will provide new experiences for users and new opportunities for developers. Samsung Electronics described the event on the MWC website as "reimagining smartwatches in a way that offers new opportunities to developers and consumers."
Although specific details have not been disclosed, industry insiders expect Samsung Electronics to introduce the integrated OS to be installed on the 'Galaxy Watch4,' scheduled for release in the second half of this year, at this event. Previously, Google and Samsung Electronics announced plans to build an integrated OS combining Google's Wear OS and Samsung's Tizen.
The new smartwatch, Galaxy Watch4, recently completed certification from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), signaling the imminent product launch. According to the certification documents, the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch Active4 support 2.4GHz single-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Near Field Communication (NFC), and 5W wireless charging functionality.
Along with this, Samsung Electronics plans to introduce the latest technologies and innovative efforts related to the increasingly important security of smart devices through this MWC 2021 online event.
MWC 2021, themed 'Connected Impact,' will be held from the 28th to July 1st in Barcelona, Spain. Due to the impact of COVID-19, global companies such as Ericsson, Qualcomm, and Nokia are not participating, resulting in a reduced offline exhibition scale compared to previous years.
