[Photo] Oh Seung-rok, Nowon District Mayor, Awards Commendations to Exemplary Children and Youth Contributors

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] On the 21st at 3 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the commendation ceremony for exemplary children and youth held on the 2nd floor auditorium of the district office.

The commendation for exemplary children and youth was organized to encourage young people who have made efforts in various fields such as volunteer work, and to express gratitude to those who have worked hard for the proper growth and development of youth.

This year, three students from Eulji Elementary School received the exemplary children volunteer commendation after actively providing aid when a child playing at a playground was injured. Despite not knowing the child, they called 119, calmed the child until the ambulance and adults arrived, and the child’s parents contacted the district office to express their gratitude, leading to the commendation.

Additionally, the commendation for contributions to sound youth development was awarded to a resident who worked hard to secure a space for the ‘Dreaming Hideout’ project, which supports youth’s right to rest.

This year, a total of 113 recipients were selected: 36 exemplary children, 58 exemplary youth, and 19 exemplary contributors.

To comply with COVID-19 prevention measures, the event was divided into two parts with recipients and guests dispersed: Part 1 (elementary exemplary children and contributors) and Part 2 (middle and high school exemplary youth).

The event proceeded with congratulatory speeches, commendation presentations, and commemorative photo sessions, attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok and Choi Yoon-nam, Chairperson of Nowon-gu Council, among others.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, “I sincerely congratulate all the recipients today,” adding, “The district will do its best to help youth grow healthily by encouraging mutual consideration among them.”
