Mayor Kwon Young-jin: "Social Distancing to Be Decided Early Next Week" The Daegu City executive meeting held via video conference.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] On the 21st, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin stated at an executive meeting, "The application stage of Daegu City according to the revised social distancing plan to be implemented from July 1 will be decided early next week after reviewing the quarantine situation and gathering opinions from various sectors."

Regarding the revised distancing plan, Mayor Kwon said, "The focus of the revision is to increase the autonomy of local governments and impose more responsibility," adding, "The distancing stage will be decided by considering the quarantine situation and gathering opinions from the general quarantine team meeting and the pan-citizen countermeasure committee meeting."

He also urged, "Although the social distancing level, which was raised to level 2 over the past two weeks, has been lowered to level 1.5, the situation has only slightly eased. If we become careless even a little, the situation from a month ago could return, so please maintain thorough quarantine measures."

Regarding the supplementary budget, he instructed, "Under the responsibility of department heads, check the budget execution status and adjust the timing of execution to minimize budget carryover and non-utilization," and requested, "Pay special attention to budgets for the early stabilization of newly established organizations such as the autonomous police committee, resolving polarization caused by COVID-19, and issues related to self-employed individuals and youth employment."

Mayor Kwon offered condolences for Chief Rescuer Kim Dong-sik, who died in the line of duty at the Coupang logistics center fire in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, and directed, "Please proactively review necessary parts such as budget and system reforms to ensure that no firefighters are sacrificed during fire suppression efforts."
