[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that it will hold a major military administration work report meeting for the second half of 2021 and will focus all efforts on fulfilling promises made to residents to realize the military administration goal of the 7th elected term, "Shining Land’s End, Haenam Running Again."

From the 16th to the 22nd, the county is conducting work report meetings on the first half of 2021’s major military administration tasks and plans for the second half by each department and division.

At the report meetings, the progress of 390 major tasks by each department and division and plans for the second half are reviewed, along with a thorough examination of pending projects from the 7th elected term.

Especially, marking the 4th year of the 7th elected term, the county is focusing on faithfully implementing and completing promises made to residents so that they can feel the changes in Haenam, while continuously discovering pending projects that will serve as long-term growth engines for Haenam County and concretizing step-by-step execution plans.

County Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, “Haenam County under the 7th elected term has regained residents’ trust through dynamic administration and is the local government that most faithfully fulfills promises to residents, having received the highest grade in the Manifesto Pledge Implementation Evaluation for three consecutive years. As the second half marks the final year of the 7th term, we must work even more meticulously to ensure that major projects take root and settle in the region.”

Since the launch of the 7th elected term, Haenam County has successfully established major projects that led changes in Haenam, including the nation’s first farmer’s allowance payment, issuance and sale of the largest Haenam Love Gift Certificates in the province, successful hosting of the Haenam Minam Festival, a food festival for Haenam agricultural and marine products, and achieving first place in the integrity evaluation within Jeollanam-do.

In particular, amid the COVID-19 crisis, Haenam has maintained its status as a clean area through proactive and preemptive K+ Haenam-style quarantine measures, secured the largest-ever national and provincial funding, and selected public contest projects, which have been evaluated as revitalizing the local economy and preparing long-term growth engines.

In the first half of this year, the county’s major administrative tasks have also progressed rapidly, including being the only county-level unit in Jeollanam-do to receive the highest grade (SA) for three consecutive years in the Manifesto Pledge Implementation Evaluation.

In the second half, Haenam County plans to complete the construction and relocation of the county office building, which will become an administrative landmark in the southwest region, opening a new era of the new county office for the next 100 years.

Additionally, the Youth Complex Cultural Center, Small Cinema, and Youth Center are scheduled to open, and major projects such as the establishment of the Haenam Local Food Direct Market, the founding of the Haenam Culture and Tourism Foundation, and the opening of the Useong Skywalk and Marine Cable Car are nearing completion.

Furthermore, the county is accelerating long-term development strategies, including attracting the National Agricultural Climate Change Response Center, creating a kimchi-specialized production complex as a leader in K-Food, fostering the Hwawon Industrial Complex offshore wind power hinterland, and activating tourism in the Hwawon area through the construction of the National Road 77 connecting Haenam Hwawon to Sinan Amhae.

Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, “With the determination of Seokjeon Gyeongu (石田耕牛), who plowed rocky fields to make fertile land, we have done our best for Haenam’s development, resulting in progressive changes across all areas of military administration. This year is an important year to realize the dream of a shining Haenam, so all public officials will strive to ensure that residents can tangibly feel the achievements of the administration and that major pending projects are completed without any leakage.”
