[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's camp announced on the 21st that it has recruited former Minister of Government Policy Coordination Lee Seok-jun.
Lee Sang-rok, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon's camp, stated in a notice that "Former Minister Lee has been in public service for over 30 years, managing the nation's budget and finances," and added, "We expect him to play an important role in the camp by leveraging his diverse government experience."
The specific position of former Minister Lee within the camp has not yet been decided. Judging from his career, it is highly likely that he will serve as an economic advisor. Former Minister Lee, who passed the 26th Administrative Examination, has held key positions at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Financial Services Commission, and served as Minister of Government Policy Coordination in 2016.
Known as a critic of the current administration, former Minister Lee is also serving as the chairman of the Seoul Vision 2030 Committee, organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Seoul Vision 2030 is a committee that predicts Seoul's future situation 10 years ahead and discusses strategies to prepare for it. He was appointed by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon.
