[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced on the 21st that it has launched 'The Strengthening Cancer Insurance,' which comprehensively covers cancer treatment and recovery, including preliminary examinations, diagnosis, surgery, daily hospitalization allowance, and living expenses.
The insurance features various coverages such as site-specific cancer diagnosis benefits and second cancer diagnosis benefits, allowing customers to subscribe only to the coverage they need at a reasonable premium.
The site-specific cancer diagnosis benefit allows customers to select only the cancers they need coverage for. Customers can choose from stomach/esophagus, colon/small intestine, breast, liver/gallbladder/bile duct/pancreas, lung/larynx, urinary organs, female reproductive organs, and male reproductive organs.
The second cancer diagnosis benefit pays the insured amount upon diagnosis of a second cancer two years after the initial cancer diagnosis date. The second cancer includes residual cancer, recurrent cancer, metastatic cancer, and new primary cancer continuing treatment beyond two years.
If a patient undergoes da Vinci robot surgery for cancer, coverage of up to 10 million KRW is provided for the first surgery only. Additionally, living expense coverage is available to alleviate the financial burden of treatment. It is paid monthly for five years upon initial cancer diagnosis, second cancer diagnosis, or disability diagnosis caused by cancer.
MRI and PET-CT examination fees for early cancer diagnosis are covered only if reimbursed by health insurance. Various coverages include major cancer pain relief treatment costs, specific anticancer hormone drug treatment costs, and terminal cancer hospice palliative care costs.
Subscription is available for individuals aged 15 to 70, with automatic renewal every 10, 15, or 20 years, providing coverage up to age 100.
The insurance also includes a premium waiver feature. Premium payments are waived if diagnosed with cancer excluding carcinoma in situ or if an 80% or higher disability occurs due to injury or illness. The contract can be maintained without additional premium payments up to age 100.
