[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) announced on the 21st that it received handwritten letters and other messages of gratitude and support for medical staff working on the front lines of COVID-19 from students of Yeongdeungpo High School.
Teachers and students of Yeongdeungpo High School, located in Daebang-dong, sought a way to express their gratitude to the medical staff at the COVID-19 screening clinics. Led by the student council, they decided to write thank-you letters to the health center medical staff. On the 16th, teachers and students visited the health center in person and delivered about 50 handwritten letters and beverages to the health center officials.
The thank-you letters written by the students included messages such as, "To the medical staff protecting South Korea on the front lines of COVID-19, it is because of you that our country is still holding on!" and "We cannot convey our feelings to everyone, but the people are always supporting you from behind. Thank you! We love you!" They also contained messages like, "Since last year until now, all the health center medical staff have given us great strength!" and "It must be very hard with no end in sight, but please remember that there are people supporting you from afar. Stay healthy. Fighting!"
The health center official who received the letters expressed repeated gratitude and said that the handwritten letters and beverages would be well delivered to the hardworking medical staff.
Yoo Hee-nam, Director of Health Planning, said, "Receiving the warm hearts of the students gave great strength to the health center medical staff who have been working hard every day amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "We will do our best to return to normal daily life as soon as possible through thorough COVID-19 prevention activities and vaccination efforts."
