Finding a New Name for Gangbuk-gu Youth Housing

Open Recruitment Until the 28th... Cultural Gift Certificates Worth 500,000 KRW Awarded for Prizes... Anyone Can Submit One Entry Regardless of Region or Age

Finding a New Name for Gangbuk-gu Youth Housing

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is holding a naming contest for the youth housing units scheduled for occupancy until the 28th.

Youth housing is a demand-tailored public rental housing for young solo entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs. This year, more than 330 local youths enthusiastically responded, and a total of 62 units were sold over five rounds. Occupancy is expected to begin in August. The district plans to complete facility maintenance such as attaching building nameplates once the new name is decided.

The contest is open to anyone regardless of region or age, with one entry per person allowed. Winners will receive cultural gift certificates worth a total of 500,000 KRW: 200,000 KRW for one grand prize winner, 100,000 KRW each for two excellence awardees, and 20,000 KRW each for five encouragement awardees.

If the application documents are in order, judges will conduct a qualitative evaluation. The criteria include whether the name reflects the characteristics of youth housing, is fresh and original, easy to pronounce, and gives a positive impression.

Applicants wishing to participate should send the application form and the consent form for collection and use of personal information via email (hunaya@gangbuk.go.kr). Related documents can be downloaded from the district website (Our District Introduction → Notice Board → Posted Public Notices).

The results will be individually notified to proposers via text message.

They can also be checked on the district website on July 8. However, if no suitable name proposals are received, the number of selected entries may be reduced. For other inquiries, contact the District Office Job and Economy Division.

Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu said, “I hope a fresh and original name will be created that immediately brings youth housing to mind,” adding, “We will work harder to expand homes that provide dreams and hope to young entrepreneurs and early career individuals.”
