[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SK Innovation is holding a plastic waste recycling idea contest involving employees at its nationwide business sites until the 2nd of next month. The company considers plastic waste recycling as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy. During the contest period, upcycled plastic products made by social enterprises will also be sold.
The event, named the Plasstic Festival by combining the words ‘plastic’ and ‘plus (+)’, features products such as camping boxes from Usisan, summer blankets, T-shirts from Mongsenyu, and tablet PC pouches from Lightroot, all nurtured by the company. The company explained that this event was planned to strengthen practical ESG by encouraging voluntary participation from members, going beyond simply promoting plastic recycling businesses.
Im Su-gil, head of SK Innovation’s Value Creation Center, said, "ESG management is an important issue that must be practiced not only in business but also in daily life."
