380 Local Cases and 49 Imported Cases... Decrease Due to Weekend Effect
The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea remained in the 300s for the second consecutive day. On the 15th, a soldier was waiting for a test at a temporary COVID-19 screening site set up at Seoul Station Plaza. The consecutive days of 300-level cases mark the first time in three months since March 15-16 (379 and 363 cases), before the start of the fourth wave. Photo by Moon Honam munonam@
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the number of new confirmed cases on the 20th was in the low 400s.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, there were 429 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 151,149.
This is 53 fewer than the previous day (482 cases), maintaining the 400s for two consecutive days.
The decrease in confirmed cases appears to reflect the reduced number of tests conducted over the weekend.
Among the new confirmed cases that day, 380 were locally transmitted and 49 were imported.
Looking at the recent COVID-19 situation, nationwide infections of varying sizes continue, with daily cases fluctuating between 300 and 700, but the weekly scale of confirmed cases is gradually decreasing.
The number of confirmed cases over the past week from the 14th to that day were 399 → 373 → 545 → 540 → 507 → 482 → 429 per day. During this period, the 500s occurred three times, and the 300s and 400s each occurred twice.
