[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] LG Electronics is leading the OLED mainstream trend in the ultra-large premium TV market by launching the world's first 83-inch (diagonal length approximately 211cm) OLED TV.
On the 20th, LG Electronics announced that it will officially launch the 83-inch OLED TV (model name: 83C1) in the global market starting this month in Korea and the United States. This product is the largest 4K (3840×2160) resolution OLED TV. LG Electronics has the industry's most diverse OLED TV lineup, ranging from 48, 55, 65, 77, 83, to 88 inches.
The number of LG OLED TV models over 70 inches increased from 7 to 11 last year based on models released in Korea. LG Electronics plans to actively target the demand for high-definition, large-screen premium TVs by leading with ultra-large OLED TVs.

Recently, as people spend more time at home, premium demand for enjoying high-definition content such as online video services (OTT) and games on ultra-large TVs is increasing. The global OLED TV market is also expected to nearly double this year compared to last year, centered on ultra-large sizes, in response to this demand.
The 83-inch OLED TV won two innovation awards at CES 2021, the world's largest IT exhibition, in the gaming and video display categories. The U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA) described this product as "packed with top features such as low input lag, fast speed, and 4K resolution HFR (High Frame Rate), providing amazing enjoyment when playing games or watching sports."
This product allows users to enjoy various content such as movies and games on an ultra-large screen based on the existing OLED advantages of 4S (Sharp, Speedy, Smooth, Slim). ▲Sharp means clarity created by precise blacks ▲Speedy means fast response time and high immersion ▲Smooth means smooth screen expression ▲Slim means lifestyle-leading design.
It also provides an optimal viewing environment so that eyes remain comfortable even after long viewing sessions, allowing immersive enjoyment of high-quality content.
All LG OLED TV models are the world's first TV products to receive Eyesafe® Display certification, developed jointly by the U.S. eye safety specialized certification body Eyesafe and Germany's TUV Rheinland. Additionally, the panel is equipped with flicker-free verification certified by the U.S. UL (Underwriters Laboratories), ensuring no screen flicker.
The domestic shipment price of this product is 10.9 million KRW. LG Electronics offers a 1 million KRW cashback benefit to customers who purchase the product by the end of this month.
Baek Seonpil, Executive Director of TV Product Planning at LG Electronics, said, "In the premium TV market where the trend toward larger sizes is accelerating, we will enable more customers to experience the differentiated value of LG OLED TVs."
