[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] Jang Seongcheol, director of the Sympathy and Debate Policy Center, revealed on his Facebook on the 19th that he had obtained part of a documented file summarizing the allegations related to the family-in-law of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol. Director Jang, a former aide to Kim Moo-sung, former leader of the Saenuri Party, is currently active as a political commentator.

On that day, Director Jang said, "There are facts I already knew and rumors I had heard as hearsay. It seems some parts have been thoroughly investigated," adding, "In any case, it seems there are many 'operations' aimed at attacking former Prosecutor General Yoon." He also added, "I have no way to verify whether the allegations are true."

Director Jang stated, "I had high expectations for former Prosecutor General Yoon, but after much consideration, my conclusion is that it will be very difficult for someone facing such allegations to be chosen by the people," and said, "Looking at the current level of preparation and response, intoxicated by high approval ratings, I think 'defense will be difficult'." He also added, "There is a difference between allegations that are legally unproblematic and those that are politically or morally problematic." However, he did not mention the contents of the file he claimed to have obtained.

Furthermore, Director Jang expressed his earnest desire for a regime change. He emphasized, "Writing such posts is very painful and may attract criticism, but the important thing is that the regime must be changed." He also predicted, "Regardless of the truth of the allegations, the current ruling power, masters of negativity, will find it an easy target to 'play tricks' on," and forecasted, "One or two pieces will be dropped within days after (former Prosecutor General Yoon's) political launch declaration."

Director Jang also mentioned that Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, is likely to have a detailed X-file. Previously, on the 25th of last month, Leader Song had mentioned that he was steadily preparing files related to former Prosecutor General Yoon's case.

However, the side of former Prosecutor General Yoon has stated that they "have nothing to be concerned about" regarding the controversy. Lee Dong-hoon, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon, appeared on CBS Radio on the 16th and said, "Even if (the ruling party's) offensive comes, he is confident and unashamed."
