General Secretary Kim said, "With the indomitable spirit of perseverance and unwavering resolve, we will surely overcome the current difficulties standing in the way of the revolution," and pledged to remain faithful to the revolutionary ideology and cause of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-un without the slightest hesitation, no matter what harsh trials lie ahead.
General Secretary Kim also criticized the behavior of cadres, stating, "Serious problems have already arisen in the work and lives of members of the leadership organs." He emphasized, "Like the previous generations of the revolution, we must become genuine revolutionaries who thoroughly accept and unconditionally implement the decisions of the Party Central Committee, no matter how harsh the circumstances."
On the same day, Tae Hyong-chol, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, was elected as a member of the Political Bureau, and Woo Sang-chol, Chief of the Central Prosecutor's Office, was elected as a candidate member of the Political Bureau. The appointment of the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee, newly established by the amendment of the Party Charter in January, was not mentioned.
