[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] On the 18th, Heo Seong-mu, mayor of Changwon City, held a signing ceremony with STX Engine, Hanwha Defense, the Changwon Defense Small and Medium Business Association, and the Autonomous Defense Mini Cluster to support the participation and expansion of local defense small and medium venture companies.
The localization of the K9 self-propelled howitzer engine aims for 100% localization rate, including core parts such as the fuel injection system and engine control device.
It is known that about 200 parts, from the main engine to some system weapon parts, will be developed and standardized.
Through this, it is expected to have a regional economic ripple effect of 1.18 trillion won including exports by 2030, as well as the creation and maintenance of more than 5,000 jobs.
Through this agreement, Hanwha Defense and STX Engine will support the discovery of required items, development technology, and participation of local companies.
The city plans to select the discovered items as support projects through the Changwon Industry Promotion Agency and the Defense Innovation Cluster Project Group.
The Changwon Defense Small and Medium Business Association and the Autonomous Defense Mini Cluster will cooperate for active participation and matching of local defense small and medium venture companies.
Meanwhile, in July, the city plans to promote a meeting to discover system company requirements with Hanwha Defense and STX Engine through professional personnel from the Changwon Industry Promotion Agency and the Defense Innovation Cluster Project Group, and will continue to connect with the Changwon-type large, medium, and small win-win market promoted by the city.
