Held the 10th Win-Win Development Working-Level Council
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun and Jinju-si in Gyeongnam Province will carry out cooperative projects, including the eradication of harmful flora and fauna in Jinyangho Lake in September and environmental cleanup activities in October.
On the 18th, the county held the 10th working-level council for mutual development at the Planning and Coordination Office.
The working-level council was attended by co-chairmen Jeong Byeong-ju, Director of Planning and Coordination Office of Sancheong-gun, Ahn Byeong-cheol, Director of Planning and Budget Division of Jinju-si, as well as planning team leaders and staff from both local governments.
Both local governments reviewed and shared the progress made so far and discussed future plans and measures for necessary cooperation.
First, the joint environmental cleanup activity in the upper Jinyangho area, which could not be carried out in the first half of the year due to COVID-19, will be conducted in October under the supervision of Sancheong-gun.
Additionally, the project to eradicate harmful flora and fauna such as Cirsium japonicum, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, and largemouth bass in the upper Jinyangho area will be carried out in September under the supervision of Jinju-si.
Meanwhile, these cooperative projects between the two institutions are follow-up measures to the memorandum of understanding signed in October 2018 for mutual development of the two local governments sharing the same living area.
Based on the agreement, they have promoted activities such as environmental cleanup of the upper Jinyangho area, which is the water source for residents in western Gyeongnam, joint eradication of harmful flora and fauna, bicycle road connection projects, and repair of fishways in Deokcheon River.
In particular, they achieved practical results by installing a water supply system in some unserved areas of Singi Village, Sinan-myeon, Sancheong-gun, located on the Sancheong-Jinju border, benefiting local residents.
A county official said, “The Sancheong-Jinju mutual development council is gaining attention as a model case of cooperation between local governments,” adding, “We will continue to strive for effective exchanges and cooperation to contribute to the mutual development of both cities and the improvement of residents’ welfare.”
