Formation of Geumcheon Education Cooperation Promotion Team with Over 80 Residents Participating Through Public Recruitment... Divided into 5 Subcommittees Including Educational Welfare, Village, and Youth to Promote Subcommittee-Specific Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that the Geumcheon Education Cooperation Promotion Group, a public-private-academic consultative body united for the development of education in the district, officially began its activities on the 16th with an online general meeting called the ‘Network Meeting.’
This general meeting was the first time since the formation of the Geumcheon Education Cooperation Promotion Group in 2021 that all members gathered together.
The participating members communicated with other committees through the online screen, while the representatives of each committee attended offline to present their committee’s project plans and exchanged opinions in real time.
The ‘Geumcheon Education Cooperation Promotion Group’ is a decision-making body for promoting the Geumcheon Innovative Education District Project. Under the vision of ‘A Village Embracing Schools,’ it is a public-private-academic consultative body where residents, teachers, the district office, and the education support office collaborate to create an educational community involving both schools and the village.
About 80 residents who applied through an open recruitment from January to March are participating, and the members are divided into five basic committees of the promotion group (Educational Welfare, Village, Youth, Sustainable Development, Parents) to carry out activities.
Each committee will directly implement educational projects based on their independently established project plans from July to November. At the same time, they will regularly share and review project progress through committee meetings and continuously discuss the scope of activities for each committee.
The project themes for each committee are ▲Village Committee: ‘Dongbeon Seobeon Hong Gil-dong Village School’ ▲Youth Committee: ‘Enhancing Youth Democratic Competence and Creating a Geumcheon-type Model for Career Exploration’ ▲Parents Committee: ‘Accidental Parents Season 3’ ▲Educational Welfare Committee: ‘Integrated Educational Welfare, Walking Together with Geumcheon Dream Trees’ ▲Sustainable Development Committee: ‘Sustainable Development Geumcheon Project.’
In particular, the Educational Welfare Committee plans a hygiene management mentor project under the theme ‘Integrated Educational Welfare, Walking Together with Geumcheon Dream Trees’ to contribute to bullying prevention and self-esteem building for children and youth from low-income families who have difficulty managing personal hygiene. The Village Committee will conduct village play education that helps children familiar with smartphones and videos develop physical strength and sensitivity through ecological play and craft play.
This project will be promoted with district subsidies until November this year, and if recognized as an excellent project through discussions such as the promotion group’s working-level council, it may be organized as an official project of the Geumcheon Innovative Education District.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope the Geumcheon Education Cooperation Promotion Group will establish itself as a model case of nationwide public-private-academic educational cooperation,” and added, “We will continue to work closely together in public, private, and academic sectors for the innovation and development of education in Geumcheon.”
