[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] From midnight to 9 PM on the 17th, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases was recorded at 477. This is 36 fewer than the 513 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments, the new cases reported on this day were 362 (75.9%) in the metropolitan area and 115 (24.1%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 197, Gyeonggi 143, Incheon 22, Chungbuk 15, Gyeongnam 14, Daegu, Daejeon, Ulsan, and Gyeongbuk each 11, Busan 10, Gangwon 9, Chungnam 7, Jeju 6, Jeonnam 4, Jeonbuk 3, Gwangju 2, and Sejong 1.
Since there is still time left until the midnight cutoff for the final tally, the number of new cases announced at midnight on the 18th is expected to increase to the low to mid-500s. On the previous day, 27 additional cases were reported after 9 PM, bringing the final total to 540.
The number of new cases reported daily over the past week from the 11th to this day are as follows: 556 → 565 → 452 → 399 → 373 → 545 → 540.
