Turkey Expands Vaccine Eligibility to Those Aged 35 and Over

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Turkish government has expanded the COVID-19 vaccination eligibility to adults aged 35 and older.


On the 17th (local time), the Turkish Ministry of Health announced that the vaccination target would be expanded from those aged 40 and above to adults aged 35 and above.


Turkey began administering the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac on January 14. From April 2, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was also added.


According to the Ministry of Health, as of this day, 37.28 million people in Turkey have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Among them, about 14 million have completed the second dose.


On the previous day, Turkey reported 6,221 new COVID-19 cases. The cumulative number of confirmed cases and deaths were recorded at 5,348,249 and 48,950, respectively.
