[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Lee Dong-hoon, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, appeared on a TV program on the 17th and said, "Even within the People Power Party, there are comments that (former Prosecutor General Yoon) is not prepared, is an amateur, and that his party entry is late, but former Prosecutor General Yoon does not respond to these remarks one by one." He added, "As a spokesperson, I will say just one thing to Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party: 'Thank you for your concern.'"
Including Leader Lee, candidates for the People Power Party leadership have been pressuring former Prosecutor General Yoon daily to clarify whether and when he will join the party. On the 15th, Leader Lee also stated, "Party members will not support someone who suddenly appears at the last minute," reiterating the end of August as the final deadline for party entry.
The spokesperson said, "The foremost concern for the leader is how the people view me. I believe we must unite forces that agree on the values of liberal democracy, fairness, and common sense," adding, "We are often asked about the timing of party entry, but I would like to say that we will raise the same voice for the overwhelming regime change, which is the sole spirit of our era and the heartfelt wish of the people."
Meanwhile, he mentioned that he has not yet met with former People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in, former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop, or former professor Jin Joong-kwon.
