First Ever in Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly: Hearing the Vivid On-Site Voices of Forestry Stakeholders

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] The Economic and Environmental Committee of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council held a meeting with forestry stakeholders on the 17th at the Gyeongnam Provincial Council's main conference room.

This meeting, held on the day, was the first time the Economic and Environmental Committee conducted a session with forestry stakeholders.

To support forestry workers financially and foster future forestry professionals, government policies and financial loans were introduced, including forest policies and support measures for professional foresters, forestry research projects and forest bio hub development projects, and comprehensive financing guidance for forestry projects.

Forests need to transition into a 6th industry that converges various fields such as environment, tourism, culture, and education to achieve the national greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Additionally, it was pledged to work together to increase forest income through the development of various new income crops suited to regional characteristics.

Jung Ilgi, president of the Gyeongnam Province Forestry Successors Association, said, "The Provincial Council is holding the first meeting for the development of the forest industry," and added, "We hope that the opinions proposed today will be reflected in forestry-related policies."
