About 30 people attended the export shipment ceremony, including Vice Governor Choi Yong-nam, Chairman Bae Mong-hee, Provincial Assembly Member Kim Yoon-chul, Assembly Member Choi Jung-ok, Director Shin Jae-soon of the Agricultural Technology Center, Manager Lee Dong-ryeol of Agricultural Distribution, CEO Jang Moon-cheol of Hapcheon Distribution, Nonghyup County Branch Manager Kang Moon-gyu, Hapcheon Nonghyup Union Chief Choi Jung-gyu, and Chairman Kwon Sang-jae of the Gyeongnam Onion Producers Association.
The total contracted volume this time is 3,000 tons (1.65 billion KRW), and the first shipment of onions is 48 tons. Hapcheon Nonghyup is the representative of the producers, and the agricultural corporation Hapcheon Distribution, the export company, exports to Taiwan.
Jang Moon-cheol, CEO of Hapcheon Distribution, said, "In the situation of experiencing COVID-19 this year, we expect this onion export to greatly contribute to securing stable sales channels for producing farms and stabilizing farm management."
Lee Dong-ryeol, head of the Agricultural Distribution Division, said, "We will actively strive to stabilize the income of onion-producing farms facing difficulties in exports due to COVID-19 by expanding onion exports."
