The First 'Manin Education' Introduced at Gyeongnam Information University in 1977 Among Korean Universities
Popular Unemployment Training During IMF... Currently Expanding Reemployment and Startup Support Programs
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Do you know when the Lifelong Education Center was established?
The main goal of universities is to nurture talent that will lead the country's future. Along with this goal, 'lifelong education' has been added, and universities operate Lifelong Education Centers under different names.
In 1977, a unique group of students began entering a vocational college.
Higher education institutions such as universities and vocational colleges, which had only admitted freshmen, were transformed into a 'campus for all people' regardless of academic background or age group.
This was the origin of the so-called 'Lifelong Education Center.' The term 'origin' (효시) comes from the first arrow shot that makes a crying sound during war, and in terms of Lifelong Education Centers, it is located in Busan.
Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) established the Lifelong Education Center in 1977, breaking down the walls of the ivory tower with the motto of 'University for All People,' the first of its kind in South Korea.
During the IMF crisis in the late 1990s, it operated an 'unemployed reemployment course,' emerging as a model for the social role of universities.
Gyeongnam Information University has grown together with the local community and was the first Lifelong Education Center to receive the Presidential Citation.
Since then, Gyeongnam Information University has focused its capabilities on strengthening lifelong education and was selected for the Type 3 Specialized College Innovation Support Project (Leading College for Further Education). It has established itself as a nationally recognized center for lifelong education.
Currently, the university quickly responds to various demands and trends with major lifelong vocational education courses such as ▲One-person Media Creator Training Course ▲Drone Operation Expert Training Course ▲Color Therapy Expert Training Course ▲ITQ Expert Training Course ▲Vocational Counseling Expert Training Course ▲Store-based Startup Support Course ▲E-commerce Startup Support Course.
It is highly praised by citizens thirsty for learning.
Lee Jun-seok, who took the One-person Media Creator Training Course, shared his review: “Through a systematic curriculum, I acquired many video skills and currently operate a YouTube channel as a one-person media creator.”
Im Jun-woo, head of the Leading College for Further Education Project at Gyeongnam Information University, said, “As we enter a full-fledged aging society, we will carefully prepare various reemployment and startup support courses needed and strive to be recognized as a good ‘Lifelong Education University.’”
Gyeongnam Information University is recruiting students for various expert training and startup support courses at all times.
