[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) announced on the 17th that it was finally selected for the '2022 Rural Agreement' public contest project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing a project budget of 42.8 billion KRW.
Since July last year, the county has been systematically preparing for the public contest project by conducting interviews with residents of the project target area, consulting experts, and establishing a collaborative system among departments, formulating a long-term development plan called the 'Rural Spatial Strategy Plan' and a practical project plan called the 'Rural Spatial Revitalization Plan.'
In this evaluation, the county was selected due to high ratings in the consistency of the plan established based on the analysis of the current status and conditions faced by the county, project feasibility, the region's willingness and readiness to proceed, and the organizational structure ensuring execution capability.
Going forward, after supplementing the 'Rural Spatial Strategy Plan' and the 'Rural Living Area Revitalization Plan,' the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Jangheung-gun will sign an agreement in the first half of 2022, and then commence projects to implement the plan.
The project will proceed over five years from next year until 2026, focusing on improving residential conditions, revitalizing the rural economy, and restoring the community among residents.
Governor Jeong Jong-sun expressed, "I share the joy with the residents that this project, which will bring new changes to the countryside amid the difficult reality of population decline, has been selected," and stated his ambition, "We will create the nation's best rural role model that fits the purpose of the public contest project."
