20s Male and Female Arrested in Gangnam for Possession of Suspected Drug Powder... Amount Equivalent to 10,000 Doses

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man and woman in their 20s were arrested by the police for possessing a large amount of powder suspected to be narcotics.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 16th that they arrested the suspects on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

At around 12:30 a.m. that day, the police received a 112 report stating, "A white powder in a bag is being exchanged for cash in a vehicle," and dispatched officers. The police arrested the two individuals on the spot as they attempted to flee.

The police seized 280g of powder suspected to be methamphetamine and marijuana from a plastic pouch placed on the back seat of the vehicle. It is reported to be enough for about 10,000 doses.

A police official stated, "We are investigating the source of the suspected narcotics, as well as whether they were used or sold," and added, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant."
