Yang Seung-jo Proposes Constitutional Amendment Joint Meeting "Overcoming Crises Such as Marriage System Improvement and Polarization"

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Yang Seung-jo, Governor of Chungnam Province who declared his candidacy for the presidential election, proposed a joint meeting of candidates to discuss constitutional amendments.

On the 16th, Governor Yang said at a press conference, "I propose a joint meeting among presidential candidates to create the vision of 'Coexistence and Prosperity of the Republic of Korea,'" adding, "Through the joint meeting, let's create a new framework for the country that the Democratic Party could not complete, draft a constitutional amendment suitable for the new country, and present it to the people."

He continued, "Not only should we improve the marriage system including one household one house, abolish private education, and support single mothers, but we must also overcome the three major crises (polarization, low birthrate, aging population) and establish a new system for the post-COVID-19 era through constitutional amendments," emphasizing the necessity.

The idea is to have candidates compete based on the constitutional amendment proposal. He said, "Let's no longer be obsessed with issues that only concern the Democratic Party, but devote ourselves to creating a framework for a new country with a vision, problem-solving ability, and fairness of opportunity."

He also stated, "If you gain support from Chungcheong, you win the presidential election; if you do not, you lose," adding, "If you cannot capture Chungcheong, the central region, the Democratic Party's return to power is impossible. I am running to represent Chungcheong and take responsibility for the central region."
