[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has once again donated a large sum to charitable organizations.

According to CNBC on the 15th (local time), Scott announced through her blog that she had donated an additional $2.7 billion (approximately 3 trillion KRW) to hundreds of nonprofit organizations.

This donation is her first public contribution since remarrying Dan Jewett, a science teacher in Seattle, Washington, earlier this year, and marks her third donation in the past year since July last year.

Scott stated on her blog, "I donated to 286 organizations," and introduced them as "groups engaged in various activities ranging from arts to racial discrimination resolution, higher education, and domestic violence response."

She added, "Dan, myself, numerous researchers, organization administrators, and advisors are all donating talents and assets to ensure systems that require change can function," and "We act on the belief that the world would be better if wealth inequality were not concentrated in the hands of a few."

Scott is showing an unusual approach in her philanthropic activities. Previously, she and her team inquired about how to donate her wealth more quickly.

Since July last year, Scott has continued large-scale donations, giving $1.7 billion to historically Black colleges and universities. In December last year, she announced donations of $4.2 billion to hundreds of organizations.

Scott previously signed the global voluntary giving movement "The Giving Pledge" in 2019. The Giving Pledge was established in 2010 by Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft (MS), and Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, who pledged to return their wealth to society.

Meanwhile, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Scott's net worth exceeds $59 billion (approximately 65.9 trillion KRW). She became one of the wealthiest women in the world after receiving a 4% stake in Amazon as alimony following her divorce from Bezos in 2019.
