[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] The Tongyeong Hansan Great Victory Cultural Foundation announced on the 15th that it is recruiting artists to supply goods to the Tongyeong 12 Workshop Traditional Crafts Exhibition and Sales Center until the 18th.
Established in 2016, the exhibition and sales center is a traditional hanok-style building located next to the entrance of the Samdosugun Tongjeyeong government office restoration site (the old Sebyeonggwan area). From 2017 to 2020, it was operated by the Tongyeong Traditional Crafts Center Operating Committee, and since January of this year, the foundation has been entrusted with its management.
The sales center recently resumed operations after environmental maintenance work due to facility aging, expanding the range of artists who can participate to open sales channels to various artists and lowering commission fees.
The first floor of the sales center is planned to feature crafts highlighting local characteristics such as Tongyeong Najeonchilgi (mother-of-pearl lacquerware) and Tongyeong Nubi (quilted fabric), while the second floor will be used as an experience center and other purposes.
For more details about the recruitment, inquiries can be made to the foundation's Cultural Projects Team.
CEO Kim Hong-jong said, "We hope that local cultural and artistic organizations, public institutions, and local artists will show great interest in the newly renovated exhibition and sales center," adding, "We hope that the operation of the exhibition and sales center will serve as an opportunity to invigorate Tongyeong's culture and arts."
