[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] ‘Wado’ in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam is being newly transformed.
Goseong-gun announced on the 15th that it was finally selected under the Gyeongnam Province-led ‘Island Improvement for Livability’ contest with the theme ‘Wado, Wado, a Wado You Want to Visit Again!’
With this selection, a project budget of 3 billion KRW over three years (1.5 billion KRW from the province and 1.5 billion KRW from the county) will be supported to develop experience, healing, and relaxation content unique to Wado, making it ‘a place where anyone can come, and from anywhere.’
Specifically, a village hydrangea flower path, a snail-shaped happiness walking trail, a mini seawater playground, camping and picnic areas, a village cafe and hotel, and specialty product sales outlets will be established.
County Governor Baek Doo-hyun stated, “With systematic support and design from various island experts, Wado is expected to establish itself as a representative of healing and therapeutic tourism on the southern coast islands.”
Meanwhile, Wado has a high willingness among residents to participate in projects, strong community harmony, and various tourist resources such as cypress and bamboo forests, a church with old-world charm, and a clean sea area certified by the US FDA.
